All this just from last Friday until Wednesday…my hat is off to all you comics folk. You work hard and keep yourselves busy…

• Webcomics Critique reviewed Lydia and Pigs of the Industry covered Over and Spaghetti Strap Western. Fictions reviewed I, Toddler and Grumpy Days and Lonely Panel reviewed LukesURL. The Joe Shuster…Newsblog reviewed Bottle of Awesome, too. Not to be left out, MPD57 reviewed The Corpse Carries A Gun and Quick along with a guest review of Supertron. The Webcomic Overlook implores us with Let’s Be Friends Again and reviews Black Cherry Bombshells. Brigid Alverson shared the Family Man webcomic via Twitter and you may also want to see the manga news roundup on Mangablog with last Friday’s post having fifteen reviews alone.
• I haven’t had the time to listen to it, but the Webcomic Beacon podcast covers InkBlot and gives some impressions about various webcomics.
• Webcomics Nation has (mostly single paragraph) peer reviews, the latest of which include Skin DeepMenthol, Drunk Elephant, Almost Daily Doodle Dandy, Awesome Ninja Marcus, Return To Green Hollow, Gott Gauss, Teddy and Newt, Paradigm Shift, The Tip, My Cardboard Life, Johnny Subconscious, Plague, City Mouse Goes West and a few more.
• This just in: if you’re looking for another sci fi comic to view on your iPod or iPod Touch, then you may want to check out Alien Echo. For those of us sans iToys, it is also being serialized on the web.
• Notably, those who fall under the United States’ Federal Trade Commission authority would be wise to pay attention to rules and regs.
• The Daily Crosshatch brings us Subway Stories #1, which is exactly what it sounds like. Drawn! points us toward The Rack and Boing Boing reviews and recommends Scott Pilgrim.
• Size Matters reviews Lost Kisses and Worms, plus there are some good links about making your own mini comic in the sidebar if you haven’t seen them before. Inkstuds reviewed Dater’s Dozen and Runx Tales. ComicNewsInfo reviewed Mouse Guard Winter 1152 and so did Read About Comics. Comic Bits Online reviews Wasted #2 and Ben Towle informs us that Midnight Sun was reviewed. Bleeding Cool looked at The Incredibles : Family Matters #3 and the claim is made that the comic meets the standard of the movie plus we get a take on the TekWar Chronicles. And the Daily Crosshatch reviews I Saw You: comics inspired by real-life missed connections.
• Forbidden Planet and Fictions both recommend the Badger webcomic. Comic Related also tells us that I’m Not From Here returns.
• Pigs of the Industry interviews Tyler James of Super Seed and Occasional Superheroine interviews Brendan McGinley on how writers find artists to work with. Also, for those of us who enjoy seeing how other artists work, Rivkah shows us whether or not she scripts or does the art first in her comics. It is from 2007 but I always enjoy these things and you may too. While we’re at it, Sketch Magazine has videos about comic page layouts and drawing manga faces in various positions.
• It’s a bit of a downer because we’ll miss our Fortress, I’m sure. As if to help buoy our spirits, Pigs of the Industry wants to begin also reviewing non-Zuda webcomics and suggestions are desired. This Week In Webcomics is looking for some good journal comics to enjoy and maybe review.
• And from the Twitter account of TCampbell we get Next Door Neighbor Webcomix. Courtesy of Joe Bluhm’s tweets, we also have news of an art thief on the loose (probably not Hoopes this time,) although it remains to be seen whether it’s just an overzealous fan or a real theft. Fleen mentions that Cat and Girl has hit ten years. Congrats to Dorothy!
• Scott McCloud points us to a podcast interview with Tom Spurgeon, Eddie Campbell, Jeet Heer and Matt Madden. Comics Coast to Coast interviewed John Sanford in the latest episode, but previous ones featured folks like Jim Gownley, the Timony Brothers, Brian Walker and Howard Taylor. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do on that site.
• Comics Worth Reading shows us the first article in Rivkah’s series on Black and White printing and Drawn! displays Joe Lambert’s tips for binding stand out minicomics. (It’s the top link directly under the image.) Comic Related has a useful column going on Creating Comics (although I did not note where I stumbled across a link to this, sorry.) Precocious Curmudgeon featured a Comixology review of comic forums. Each entry covered reading level, typical topics and tells you who the shill is. Chris Watkins sets a thirty day comic challenge which is desirably imitable.
• What mental image does a name like PigSpigot conjure up? Would you believe it’s a greeting card company with a twist? For another twist, maybe you would want to use up your public transit time by by painting on your iphone? ComixTalk’s Tuesday news discussed Longbox and some other juicy tidbits, too. • I don’t game the system for pagerank but I try to keep tabs on how it all works so that I don’t shoot myself in the foot either. I have dofollow on comments so readers can follow commenters back to their own sites. It was interesting to read this post on DailyBlogTips about Google’s current method of distributing pagerank. For posts like this, it appears that any link or anyone who comments is getting half a point of pagerank. Sorry about that. At the bottom of the article, they recommend Disqus but it has issues too.
• Joey Manley is running a webcomic merchandise advertising experiment on the ComicSpace Blog. It is due to run for a month on Project Wonderful, Facebook and Adsense with all the details listed. Hopefully we’ll all learn something about how to promote comic merch on the web. And speaking of merch…
