I’m in a little bit of a pickle, folks. My laptop crashed hard with all my current projects, music and posts-in-progress. I have one hail-mary option left to try before I write it all off as lost, so we’ll see how that turns out. I’m going to take a week off from posting and work out what I’ll be doing going forward.

Did your harddrive poop out or is it an internal failure like the mother board? You can buy shells for the harddrive but if your harddrive literally died there’s not much you can do about saving your projects.
I’m not yet sure what the exact problem(s) is but the hail mary came out to nothing. I am considering my circumstances and what I will now be able to accomplish in the on-line world. Most of the projects can be rebuilt from scratch, but reference files and bookmarks have been lost which will be a pain to find again.
For future pickle-prevention, flash drives are much faster and more capacious than CDs as far as backup goes.

It’s funny you mentioned that. I had, in fact, backed up a number of things on a couple of flash drives. I apparently misplaced one but some things are unreadable between the OS’s on the flash drive I have. In any case, the backups are a few months old so it looks like I’ve mostly lost the last two months of background work.
